Static Radio NJ have been delivering their unique brand of honest melodic hardcore/punk since the summer of 2002. With nine years under their collective belts, it’s almost odd how little music they have officially released. Their debut, the “One For the Good Guys” EP, first saw the light of day in 2006 when they were recognized by fellow New Jersey punk stalwarts the Bouncing Souls. The Souls released the EP on their own label Chunksaah, and Static Radio NJ were quickly accepted into the hearts of punks and hardcore kids from the Garden State and beyond. A couple of years later they followed up their EP with their debut full-length “An Evening of Bad Decisions” which was made available via Black Numbers. Three long years have passed and Static Radio NJ have since shaken up their line-up and finally produced another batch of brand new material. With their newest album, “We Are All Beasts,” the band has found a home at Florida’s Kiss of Death Records and the album showcases the maturation of a band that has been playing together for nearly a decade. Originally started as a way to emulate and idolize the bands they grew up stage-diving to, Static Radio NJ have struck out on their own path and created their own sound. They are straightforward punk tunes but the hints of their beloved New Jersey predecessors and the sometimes outright Nirvana worship create a mixed and colorful bag of fresh material that isn’t afraid to be a little bit different. With an already impressive touring history, sharing the road with Strike Anywhere, The Ergs!, Lifetime and Dead to Me, Static Radio NJ will be hitting the road again furiously when their new album is finally made available. And we’re sure they’ll be having a blast while they’re at it.
